Cartridges 8x57 and 7.92x57 are almost identical, the difference for the keychain is only in the shape of the bullet used, with 8x57 having a standard bullet shape.

A Few Words About the 8x57 JS Cartridge

Development of the Cartridge:

The 7.92x57 JS cartridge, also known as the 8mm Mauser, is a rifle cartridge with a rimless, bottle-shaped casing. Introduced in the German Empire in 1905 and used in both World Wars, it was one of the most popular military cartridges in its time. In the 21st century, it remains popular and continues to be produced in Europe and the United States in civilian versions labeled 8x57JS or 8x57 IS. This cartridge was designed for the German army to increase the range of the existing M88 cartridge. The Czechoslovak army stopped using it in the 1950s, Yugoslavia used it extensively until the late 1980s, and machine guns chambered in this cartridge were recently seen in footage from conflicts in Syria.

Cartridge Composition and Manufacture:

Historically manufactured for rifles and machine guns with brass casings and FMJ bullets. In the civilian sphere, this cartridge is popular among shooters and hunters in the 8x57 variant. Produced by all major ammunition manufacturers with almost all available types of bullets.
